As girls’ golf continues to grow in popularity in our area, we are excited to launch a girls-only coaching session each week.
We know girls like being together; they value their own company and love helping each other improve. Here is the girls’ golf coaching program at Burghley Park Golf Club.
How it works:
We know diaries are busy, especially for young girls, with dance, swimming, and other clubs they attend; we know it is hard to fit everything in. It is a good thing golf is for life; we are not in any rush, and there is no timescale to learning and playing. If you are breathing, you can play golf. So we will run this session weekly and leave it to you to book your daughter in when they can attend*. We will not require you to attend a series; life doesn’t work like that anymore. You choose and register your attendance; it’s that simple.
What is the program:
This coaching is a get-into-golf type program, a taster, so to speak. We have US Kids Academy, which offers a comprehensive golf development program. Who knows, we might include girls-only sessions within this academy in due course?
Each week will focus on one of the golfing skills: putting, short game, full swing, and playing. Then, within each session, games will challenge the girls to develop the skill through experimentation with the coaching given and practice. Sessions are 45 minutes long and limited to 8 girls. We can provide all golf equipment if required; your daughter needs only a pair of trainers and suitable clothing for the weather on the day. There are plenty of opportunities with Birthdays and Christmas to purchase golf equipment (and clothing) when they get hooked.
Why golf?:
Always a great question! I am passionate about children and golf, especially girls and golf. There are no barriers to participation, and the sooner a girl learns to play, the longer ther have to play. No one retires from golf? Learning to play golf also benefits the classroom and social interactions. Many life skills integral to playing golf are beneficial in the classroom: problem-solving, persistence, handling success and failure, honesty, patience, waiting in turn, giving and taking, and more. Then you can include personal skills, such as integrity, confidence, and self-belief. The list can go on and on. Golf is special.
Who is golf for:
Everyone! I believe anyone can enjoy playing golf; it all depends on why they play. There are no barriers to participation, only perceived ones. There is no mould, just you with a golf club, a ball, a hole and nature. You then make golf what you want it to be. A competitive sport, to become the next world #1, to see how good you can become, to enjoy being outdoors in nature, to enjoy quality time with family or friends, and to have a laugh. The choice is yours, and as long as you know, you are going to have a great time.
*If you are on the register, you are committed to attending.
