About The League
Children enjoy challenges, and I am sure they will have experienced some form of competition when golfing, whether in a coaching session, putting green with friends or on the course. Golf provides this experience and background; shots often do not go to plan, so we are already coaching them on how to deal with setbacks. Let’s face it, life is a competition, and the sooner we can help children learn how to compete in a friendly environment, the better.
There can only be one gold medal winner in each age category, but everyone receives a medal to reward their hard work and effort. If the child wants the gold medal next time, then we all know what they have to do – deal with it, go away, work at it, and come back better next time.
As the children play from age-specific hole lengths, it is a format of the lowest wins. There is no need for handicaps as, in theory, if everyone hits a good shot on a par three, it is likely to be the same club from their correct distances.
The League Championship
All participants are rewarded with ranking points depending on their finishing position score-wise at each event. The point system can be viewed below.
After the fifth event in September, the top twelve in the order of merit will be invited to play in the League Championship on Sunday, 22 October. There will be prizes for the overall champion, best boy and best girl.
