Why Golf?
Why would you get your child into golf? Or why would you not want to get your child into golf?
In the next few articles, let’s show you the benefits learning to play golf gives a developing child and also the things that playing golf will stop a child from doing?
Would you like to keep your child away from the temptations of electronic devices?
Would you like your son or daughter away from the sofa or bed when they come home from school?
Would you want your son or daughter to have fun outdoors, socialising as they make new friends and learn new skills?
Then read on, this is for you!
Are you worried about the number of hours children spend on their electronic devices? When schooling was done online during the pandemic, children didn’t want to see another device in the evenings. Now, the time spent on them appears to be returning as it was before homeschooling. We know this needs to change for the health and wellbeing of your child and also the next generation.
How would you like your child to be engaged in an outdoor activity? That will also help them in the classroom and learn how to be outstanding individuals, the best version of themselves.
How would you like your child to be able to bounce back knock, not only bounce back but come back stronger from it?
Might you think of golf as an old person sport? Which it is!
Now, you are thinking, why am I agreeing with you? According to my nieces, I am extinct, and one pupil asked me if I knew Guy Fawkes, whom they were learning about in history! So I must be old, right?
Nope, why, because I haven’t retired yet and never will. In fact, you never hear of a golfer retiring from the game. Hence why you see so many old people at golf clubs.
Golf is a life game, so the sooner someone gets into golf, the longer they can enjoy playing. It is as simple as that. There is an honours board in the Burghley Park Golf Club clubhouse that recognises members of fifty years or more.
Now that is pretty cool!
Back to the story, so you are worried about the ease your son or daughter has in wasting hours lying on their bed with an electronic device in hand?
There is so much more they could be doing that will enhance their development and lives.
Like, playing golf?
Outdoors, and all-year-round, once playing, that’s it, they will be outside playing with golf buddies, come rain or shine, and even snow if they were allowed! You never see them in daylight hours, but at least you are never lost at what to buy for birthdays and Christmas!
- Non-sporty, hang on, what did I say? Yes, golf doesn’t have to be competitive; it can be fun and time with friends.
- Non-energetic, I cannot put lazy because swinging a golf club uses the entire body. Still, it is played at a walking pace.
- Non-physical, there is no rough stuff with a game of golf. Rather you than me, getting in the way of a swinging golf club? (Been there, done that, ouch!)
Golf is extraordinary; we struggle to find another activity that can engage everyone as golf does.
Physical, mental, or perceived barriers do not hinder a child’s ability to play or enjoy a game of golf. It is more than an activity to keep them off their electronic devices; it will also provide a long-lasting impact in other areas of their development.
